Assistant Director of Nursing

This position requires a thorough understanding of facility?s treatment program and philosophy, admission process and criteria, support and administrative services, medical knowledge of various aspects of alcoholism, drug abuse and dual diagnosis. This is a very complex position requiring the individual be able to work independently with minimum supervision and manage a variety of duties. ?


?? Serves a nursing liaison with medical director.

?? Monitors patient records for nursing care.

?? Administers medications in all forms (oral, respiratory, injections.

?? Coordinates special patient diets with dietary department.

?? Assures maintenance of accurate drug records and inventory as required by statutes.

?? May coordinates patient referral and transportation for medical/dental appointments.

?? Completes nursing assessment initiated by LPN.

?? Participates in treatment planning conferences.

?? Assists with coordinating schedules for nursing department.

?? Provides nursing care when needed.

?? Supervises/provides infection control processes.

?? Coordinates pharmacy activities with appropriate committees.

?? Participates in overall department change and development, i.e., Confers with directors, physician(s), staff, standing committees, consultants to formulate treatment policies and management of resources.

?? Participates in coordination of the department with other disciplines.

?? Delegates both responsibility and authority on a regular basis.

?? Ensures department efficiency, monitors output and initiates changes as needed.

?? Ensures staff is accountable for their performance and takes action as needed.

?? Ensures staff complies with company policies and procedures.

?? Represents the facility in dealings with outside agencies, including governmental agencies and third party payors when requested.

?? Provides educational groups as time permits

?? Addresses complaints/concerns from patients, families and staff.

?? Ensures accurate midnight census.

Supervises/Provides Infection Control Processes:

?? Works as liaison with department heads and physician(s) to develop and maintain and effective infection surveillance, prevention and control program.

?? Assists department heads in developing specific infection surveillance, prevention and control policies and procedures.

?? Assists facility in maintaining basic infection control practices specific to chemical dependency and/or dually diagnosed adults in residential and outpatient settings.

?? Coordinates and facilitates surveillance procedures concerning infectious disease trending and reporting.

?? Assists facility departments in providing infection control education to staff and patients.

?? Acts as are source for facility concerning infection prevention and control practices.

?? Ensures that infection control manual is updated annually and approved through appropriate committees.


  1. Education -??????????????????? Graduate from NLN approved nursing school; bachelor?s degree preferred.

  2. Experience -??????????????????? A minimum of two years of direct program experience is preferred.

  3. Certifications -??????????????????? CPR, CPI.

  4. Licenses -??????????????????? Licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Florida.

  5. Special Requirements - Knowledge of alcohol, chemical dependency treatment, rehabilitation programs and dual diagnosis.

  6. Age/Gender Specifics -??????????? Ability to work with male and female, adult (18-over) substance abuse/dual diagnosed population.

Positions Supervised: All nursing staff positions (RNs, LPNs, Detox Technicians and Nursing Assistants, Vivitrol Detox Tech).


Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
